“Candidates for the Nobel prize for scientific achievements are now remaining deemed by the Swedish Academy of Science, at Stockholm, which should award the prize this 12 months for the initial time. Among the the names presently proposed are Prof. Roentgen, Marconi, Baron Nordenskjöld, and Henri Dunant, the founder of the Pink Cross Modern society.” [Editors’ note: Wilhelm Roentgen and Dunant gained in 1901, and Guglielmo Marconi in 1909. Nordenskjöld died in 1901.]
