Five Mississippi math, science teachers earn national recognition

JACKSON, Miss. (WJTV) – 5 K-6 Mississippi teachers have been named 2022 point out-stage finalists for the Presidential Awards for Excellence in Mathematics and Science Training (PAEMST). The PAEMST System is the nation’s maximum honor for teachers of mathematics and science (which include pc science).

Two Mississippi teachers will be picked for the 2021-22 PAEMST award cycle. Countrywide honorees get a $10,000 award from the Countrywide Science Foundation, recognition at a White Dwelling ceremony, and the opportunity to supply enter on insurance policies to enhance science, technologies, engineering, mathematics, and personal computer science instruction.

Awardees provide as products for their colleagues, inspiration to their communities, and leaders in the improvement of mathematics and science education and learning. Mississippi’s 2022 PAEMST point out-stage finalists are:

  • Jana Chao, a fifth-grade laptop or computer science trainer at Eastside Elementary in the Clinton Public University District
  • LeShae Collums, a 3rd-grade math teacher at D.T. Cox Elementary in the Pontotoc Metropolis College District
  • Wendy Dean, a fourth-grade instructor of all topics at Monticello Elementary College in the Lawrence County College District
  • Jennifer Hite, a fifth-grade math and science trainer at Pearl Upper Elementary Faculty in the Pearl Community Faculty District
  • Dr. Marti Ladner, a fifth-grade science instructor at Go Christian Elementary College in the Go Christian School District

Every year PAEMST alternates amongst recognizing K-6 and 7-12 grade teachers. The 2022-23 PAEMST cycle will award the nation’s top teachers who teach science, technology, engineering, mathematics, and personal computer science in grades 7-12.   

The Mississippi Point out Board of Schooling will identify Mississippi’s 2022 PAEMST finalists later this yr. Nationwide winners are announced approximately a yr after point out-stage finalists are identified.
